Financial Controller - Commercial Construction & Property Location: Melbourne | Sector: Construction & Property Development Reports to: Group CFO | Package: Commensurate with experience Team Leadership: up to 7 direct reports About the Company A growing commercial construction with a long-standing reputation for delivering government, institutional, and residential projects across Melbourne and Perth. The group includes multiple entities with strong financial performance, a collaborative culture, and deep industry relationships. The business is scaling steadily and is well-regarded for its expertise in both modern construction and heritage restoration. The central finance and administration arm provides shared services to the group, enabling operational efficiency and consistent financial oversight. The Role This newly created Financial Controller position will support the business through its next phase of growth. Reporting to the Group CFO, the role leads a shared services team of 4-7 and will be responsible for the financial management of all group entities. Key responsibilities include: Overseeing statutory reporting, audit processes, and financial compliance Managing monthly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting Driving continuous improvement of systems, controls, and processes Overseeing AP, AR, payroll, internal billing, and treasury Supporting insurance, project security, and IT coordination Acting as a commercial business partner to operational leaders Developing and mentoring a growing junior team About You CA/CPA qualified with strong experience in financial and management reporting Industry exposure to construction, property, or professional services is highly desirable Hands-on leader with a proactive mindset and strong commercial acumen Confident managing people and embedding operational controls Strong communication and business partnering skills Experience with Viewpoint (or similar ERP) preferred Why Join?
