The Team Leader position will work with and report to the Assistant Director, Magistrates Court (MC) Family Violence and Protection Registry to lead people and manage the work and operations of the Assistant Director, MC Family Violence and Protection Registry. The Team Leader will coordinate high-quality in-and-out-of-court support to judicial officers across the Magistrates Courts. The Team Leader will be accountable for and lead a sub-unit to deliver coordinated administrative and client services to internal and external stakeholders, court users and the members of the legal profession. The Team Leader will have an opportunity to demonstrate sound judgment, intelligence and common sense advising on policy, procedure and quality assurance issues related to managing, processing and listing of Family Violence and Protection matters and work through the Courts. As part of the section’s leadership team, the Team Leader will manage direct reports, take a role in developing your team’s capability and maintaining high performance and output. Working closely with the Assistant Director and Director, MC Registry Operations, the Team Leader will contribute to setting and delivering the overall strategic and operational priorities. The Team Leader will also assist with building the sub-unit’s organisational capability and responsiveness, including to champion continuous improvement, lead change, and managing stakeholder engagement. Under the limited direction of the Assistant Director, MC Family Violence and Protection Registry, the Team Leader, MC Family Violence and Protection Registry will: Lead within the MC Family Violence and Protection Unit to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of administrative, support and client services to court users. Oversee the collection and processing of court documentation in accordance with legislation and practice directions relevant to the ACT Courts. Provide tailored advice on policy, process, procedural or practice matters and issues, including working with individual members of the sub-unit to build and sharpen their judgment, advice-giving, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities. Assist with managing and developing talent, individual capability and high performance. Assist in and contribute to setting and delivering branch strategic, operational and corporate priorities, plans and reports. Liaise and assist with developing and nurturing relationships with court staff, legal practitioners and other stakeholders. Assist with championing continuous improvement, fostering innovation and affecting change, including review of policies, frameworks, practices, processes and systems. Where required, exercise relevant powers under any statutory appointments and process documentation in line with legislative requirements and practice directions. This position does involve direct supervision of staff. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Computer literacy skills are relevant to this role as you will use several computer software programs to undertake the tasks of this role. To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa. If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Criminal History check. Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of one month with the possibility of extension up to less than 12 months.
