The Construction and General Division of the CFMEU is Australia's main trade union in the building and construction industries.
The ACT Divisional Branch boasts membership across the private sector, ACT government sector, and Federal Government sector.
The union is dedicated to protecting the lives and improving the conditions and wages of construction workers.
The successful candidate will work in a team of dedicated professionals committed to advancing the cause of the CFMEU and its members.
Requirements
* Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor with an unrestricted current practicing certificate
* Experience as a Senior Legal Officer or 5+ years legal/industrial experience
* Litigation experience either as an instructor or advocate
* Knowledge of right of entry
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Adobe, and related programs
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Commitment to union values
Responsibilities
* Case preparation, management, and advocacy for appearances or instructing in courts or the Fair Work Commission
* Providing legal advice and assistance to members, organisers, and executive regarding industrial and employment law matters
* Dealing with regulatory authorities
* Interacting and liaising with legal/industrial officers from other branches and unions
* Researching and writing submissions on issues affecting members
* Drafting enterprise agreements/clauses and participating in bargaining and agreement making processes
