For us, these are exciting times. There’s a real potential for big thinkers to help us redefine what financial services could be and turn our legacy into something even more positive and powerful for the future.

Help people create their tomorrow, while you create yours

We help people with their banking, super, retirement and finances. Through upturns, downturns, recessions, and major life transitions. Every day, we help people see and make more of their financial potential, so that they can create their tomorrow. And we’ve been doing it for over 170 years.

If we do our job well, we genuinely add to the prosperity of our country and its people.

Purpose of the role:

The Senior Manager, ERM Business Credit is a key leadership role within AMP Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management team. This position provides strategic oversight and enhancement of business credit risk management, with a particular focus on business lending portfolios. The role ensures robust risk frameworks, policies, and practices are embedded across the bank’s business lending activities, supporting prudent growth and regulatory compliance.

The Senior Manager, ERM Business Credit must have exceptional influencing and stakeholder management skills, be outcomes focussed and be able to foster an open and transparent risk culture.

How will you make an impact

- Lead second-line oversight of AMP Bank’s business credit risk, including policy development, risk appetite setting and portfolio monitoring for business lending (cash-flow and commercial credit).
- Provide governance and oversight of complex credit decisions, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and strategic objectives.
- Advise and challenge first line on credit proposals, risk grading, watchlist accounts and recovery actions to ensure alignment with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in credit risk models, provisioning, and reporting frameworks for business lending portfolios.
- Collaborate with business units to identify, assess, and mitigate credit risks, including emerging risks and regulatory changes.
- Prepare and present risk insights and reports to senior management, risk committees, and the Board.
- Engage with stakeholders (auditors, regulators, industry bodies) to ensure best practice and continuous improvement in credit risk management.
- Build and develop the Business Credit team, ensuring the right skills, knowledge and experience to manage credit risk effectively.
- Foster an open, transparent culture where team members feel safe to speak up, raise risks and share concerns.
Support growth and cross-skilling, providing transparent development pathways for direct reports

- What you will bring to the role

- Ideally at least 7 years’ experience in credit risk management and business lending within a regulated banking environment, ideally in a 2nd Line of Defence role.
- Deep knowledge of credit risk frameworks, APRA standards (e.g., APS220, APS112), and regulatory requirements, including practical application.
- Proven ability to interpret financial statements, assess creditworthiness and make sound credit decisions.
- Skilled in implementing, monitoring, and reporting on risk and compliance frameworks, covering financial and non-financial risk.
- Experience with credit risk modelling, provisioning, and portfolio analytics (highly desirable).
- Expert understanding of the financial services industry, regulators (ASIC, APRA), and current/proposed legislative requirements.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, business, or related field.

- What we look for in you

We’re looking for a strategic leader who can inspire and develop a high-performing team. You’ll foster an open, transparent culture where people feel confident to speak up, share ideas, and raise risks. Your ability to coach, mentor, and create clear development pathways will help build capability and resilience across the team.

You’ll bring exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively. Excellent relationship-building and report-writing capability will enable you to present insights clearly and drive alignment across business units and senior leadership.

You’ll thrive here if…

If you can adapt from BAU to the ambiguous with ease, you’ll do well here. Change is never easy, so bring your commitment, grit and growth mindset.

Because we run lean, you’ll be expected to jump in and deliver across a variety of areas. Meaning, you’ll be closer to the action and executive decisions that influence where we go next.

If you’re someone that can hold their own, you’ll find AMP quite liberating.
