About the Role
As the Payroll Officer, you will support the Senior Payroll Officer and share the responsibility of an efficient and timely end‑to‑end processing of a fortnightly payroll for the YMCA of Brisbane and Y‑Care (Southeast Queensland) Inc.
You will assist staff members with payroll enquiries, administer HR Information Systems and assist with system configuration as required.
Responsibilities
- Undertake required internal and statutory reporting
- Provide accurate and timely processing and coordination of the YMCA and Y‑Care payroll function
- Coordinate the end‑to‑end processing of fortnightly payrolls for both associations
- Assist in comprehensive annual payroll audits to ensure accuracy and correctness of data
- Calculate termination payments (resignation/retirement/redundancy)
- Process salary increases, bonuses and calculate back‑pays as required
- Data entry of all payroll data from the salary packaging provider (reportable fringe benefits and superannuation)
- Assist in the running of end‑of‑FBT and end‑of‑Financial‑Year processes
- Assist with company benefit programs (superannuation, salary sacrifice, additional tax and accommodation) as required
- Administer and calculate all superannuation contributions, charity and garnishee payments
Qualifications
- 3‑5 years experience in a payroll function, preferably in a NFP
- Competence and experience in the use of payroll packages, software, MS Office and time & attendance systems
- Working knowledge of relevant Industrial Acts, Superannuation Guarantee Legislation, Awards and Agreements
- Highly effective time‑management skills, ability to plan, organise and stay on task
- Experience maintaining an HRIS or database
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution
- Attention to detail and analytical reporting skills
- Sound decision‑making, collaborative work style, analysis of available information
- Able to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to obtain a positive notice Blue Card under the Working with Children Act
- YMCA Safeguarding Children Training Certificate (annual refresher)
