Clinical Lead – Primary Care and Rural Generalism (Far Western NSW). Based in Broken Hill, this role will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering safe and high-quality rural generalist care across Far Western NSW, while contributing to clinical leadership and service delivery across RFDSSE.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Clinical Service Provision (0.8 FTE)
* Provide clinical leadership across Far Western Primary Health services including Clive Bishop Medical Centre and Network Clinics (12 outreach clinics)
* Deliver high-quality primary care including acute, chronic, preventative and mental health services
* Undertake consultations in clinic, community, outreach and telehealth settings
* Ensure continuity of care through appropriate follow-up, referrals and coordination
* Supervise and support GP/RG Registrars, junior doctors and medical students
* Provide clinical teaching, mentoring and assessment for learners and help create a positive and supportive learning environment
* Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and local health partners
* Engage respectfully with local communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to deliver culturally appropriate care
Medical Administration (0.2 FTE)
* Collaborate with Clinical Director of Primary Care to develop and deliver a Rural Generalist (RG) training model
* Support GP Registrars across ACRRM and RACGP pathways
* Build educator capacity among supervisors and ensure quality clinical supervision
* Coordinate training experiences aligned with RACGP, ACRRM, HETI, and university partner requirements
* Promote Rural Generalist career pathways and improve training and support for Registrars and supervisors
* Support Clinical Governance activities, including accreditation (NSQHS, AGPAL/RACGP), quality improvement, clinical audits, and morbidity and mortality reviews
* Contribute to the development and review of clinical protocols, policies, incident reporting and risk management
* Assist in the expansion of services aligned with RFDSSE strategy and mission.
Essential Experience & Criteria
* Fellowship with either RACGP or ACRRM. FACRRM and FRACGP-RG preferred
* Current AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
* Significant experience in rural and remote medicine
* Demonstrated experience in medical education and clinical supervision
* Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable Experience & Criteria
* Previous experience as a clinical academic or educational leader
* Accredited supervisor with RACGP and/or ACRRM (or willingness to obtain)
* Experience in developing and delivering rural generalist training pathways
* Familiarity with curriculum design and assessment in undergraduate medical education
