About the role As a Project Engineer, you’ll support the delivery of V/Line’s Annual Works Plan projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance. You’ll coordinate contractors, manage interfaces, and oversee on‑site execution to achieve project objectives within budget and timeframes.

Key accountabilities include:

Manage contract execution, procurement, and contractor engagement.

Ensure safety readiness and compliance with V/Line standards.

Oversee quality inspections and implement engineering solutions.

Coordinate project scope, planning, and stakeholder interfaces.

Monitor schedules, report outcomes, and manage risk.

Prepare documentation including site plans, RFQs, and close‑out reports.

About you We’re looking for two detail‑oriented engineers who thrive in dynamic environments and values collaboration. You’ll bring strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

Our ideal candidates will possess the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Track, or Structural Engineering.

Minimum 3+ years’ experience delivering projects; rail experience advantageous.

White Card and valid driver’s licence.

Ability to travel and live away during project stages.

Strong stakeholder engagement and organisational skills.

Keen eye for detail and commitment to safety.

Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

The total remuneration package for this role starts at approximately $117,500 inclusive of superannuation, with flexibility based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
