The Role
Darling Range SC is seeking an outstanding HPE Teacher who can inspire students to engage in curriculum, strive for excellence and is proactive in improving student outcomes. The successful applicant will ideally be the coordinator of the elite AFL specialist program at Darling Range SC. This program has been successful in sending students to the AFL draft. The applicant should possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide students with high-quality coaching, curriculum delivery and training programs within the HPE learning area.
Recent experience coaching AFL at an elite youth level and/or within the state or national leagues would be an advantage. A current accreditation at the Silver or Gold level (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
The Specialist AFL program serves students from Years 7 to 12 and attracts students from throughout the metropolitan area. A key component of the role is to promote the program in the local community and provide pastoral care to support students through their high school years. An agreed level of FTE is provided for these additional duties.
A major focus of the College is the implementation of Explicit Instruction (EI) across all learning areas. Experience using EI in the classroom is not a prerequisite, but the successful applicant should display a willingness to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Knowledge or completion of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and Instructional Strategies (IS) workshops would be highly desirable.
