Position: Community Mental Health Senior Clinician – Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Role summary: The RMH Mental Health Services delivers person‑centred, recovery‑focused care to adults and older adults experiencing or at risk of responsible mental illness. Responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical assessment, treatment and support to consumers with complex mental health needs and their families/carers.
- Manage a mixed caseload across acute and non‑acute settings, delivering evidence‑based interventions.
- Offer clinical supervision and mentoring to staff and students, champion your discipline in multidisciplinary team settings.
- Lead and contribute to clinical review meetings, team portfolios and service initiatives.
- Work a rotating 7‑day roster, including some evenings and weekends, with occasional overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating severe mental illness.
- Strong clinical skills and interest in community‑based treatment and recovery planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage consumers, families and colleagues.
- Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Commitment to evidence‑based practice, ongoing professional development and a recovery‑oriented approach.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and capacity to support co‑occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Current Victorian driver’s licence and professional registration.
Desirable:
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Postgraduate qualifications in specialist practice areas.
- Community language skills.
