About the Role
As a Teacher Assistant, you will work five days a week under the direction of the Team Leader Learning Support (Primary) to support students with diverse learning needs. You will contribute to creating a caring, inclusive, and supportive environment, ensuring students are able to engage meaningfully in their learning and school experience.
This role plays a vital part in achieving positive outcomes through in-class support, implementation of individual and small group programs, classroom organisation, and behavioural guidance.
Responsibilities
Depending on your placement within Primary, your role may include:
* Supporting teaching and learning activities in the classroom
* Assisting students with special needs and/or disabilities with learning and personal care
* Observing and monitoring student performance and behaviours
* Supporting classroom organisation including preparing materials and collecting homework
* Participating in excursions, playground duties, and sporting or school events
* Collaborating with teaching and support staff to implement individual learning plans
* Attending support meetings and relevant professional development
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Certificate III or IV in Education Support, Learning Support, or equivalent (VET qualification)
* Previous experience in a Primary Learning Support/Teacher Assistant role
* A genuine passion for supporting young people's learning and wellbeing
* Strong emotional resilience and conflict management skills
* Ability to work proactively and independently within a team setting
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Sound organisational and time-management abilities
Mandatory Requirements
* Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
* First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
* Participation in Child Protection and WHS training aligned to School policy
