Engineering Specialist – Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP)
Join Vestas Australia and help shape the future of renewable energy as a Specialist Engineer – Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP), supporting EPC Sales. In this strategic role, you will provide critical technical expertise to develop competitive, high-quality solutions for large-scale onshore wind projects.
This team is seated within Vestas' broader Power plant solutions and is responsible for the concept design and estimation of the Balance of Plant works (Electrical) of wind farms considered for EPC (Engineer, Procure and Construct) contracts.
Responsibilities
Preparation of concept designs to be released as electrical tender documents or used in project development, including wind farm Collector System, Substations, and Power Transmission Lines in collaboration with the team draftsman. This must include the single line diagrams, MV Cable calculations, substation layout, detailed Bill of Quantity, and required technical specifications.
* Consolidation of electrical balance of plant tender packs for release.
* Preparation of detailed bill of quantities to inform the electrical contractor pricing.
* Ensuring tender packs for release comply with client requirements, development applications, project constraints, etc.
* Assist with evaluating electrical contractor tender submissions.
* Assist with scoping and management of consultants engaged for early works aspects.
* Preparation of electrical works cost estimate for projects in early stages of development.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on general electrical related queries.
* Ad hoc support to internal construction engineers after contract award.
Qualifications
* Post Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering – recognised by Engineers Australia.
* Minimum 5-8 years' experience.
Competencies
* Previous design experience with wind farms will be highly valued.
* Knowledge of Australian Standards.
* Experience in design of Underground Cable Systems, HV Substations, and Power Transmission Lines for voltage levels up to 500 kV.
* Awareness of site constraints applicable to wind farms.
* Management of consultants preferred.
* Experience with costings and tenders preferred.
* Experience in negotiation with stakeholders, both clients and contractors.
* Ability to operate within high-pressure environment.
* Advanced use of MS Office.
* Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
* Relationship building, both internal and external.
* Proactive view and practical approach toward the role.
* Commercial and risk awareness.
