Western Cape College is seeking a dedicated and collaborative leader to join the Weipa Secondary Campus leadership team as Head of Department - Physical Education / The Arts. This temporary opportunity is available for Semester 2, 2026 until the end of the school year, with the possibility of extension.
About Western Cape College
Western Cape College is a unique state school with two campuses located in Mapoon (P-6) and Weipa (P-12), plus a secondary residential facility also located in Weipa. It is the largest P-12 school in the Cape and plays an important role in supporting and continuing to lead innovative practices with Indigenous and Remote Education.
Relocation expenses may be negotiated with the successful applicant. Subsidised departmental accommodation is available for eligible applicants and remote incentives apply.
Your opportunity
As the Head of Department (HPE and The Arts), you will play a vital role in developing the quality of teaching and learning, developing a positive culture within the Weipa Secondary Campus and developing solid strategic practices for managing resources to achieve positive student learning outcomes.

* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
* Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
* Be futures oriented and strategic.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge and capacity to lead the implementation of both the Australian Curriculum and the QCAA curriculum in The Arts, Health and Physical Education.
* Lead the implementation of several Vocational Education & Training certificate courses.
* Ability to build and sustain productive relationships with all stakeholders.
