Role: Sales Director l Head of BESS (Utility-scale)
Location: Melbourne, VIC
The Mandate
Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Australia, the Head of BESS will have genuine ownership of the Australian go-to-market strategy — including product mix positioning, pricing approach, and channel development. This is not a role where strategy is handed down from head office. You will shape it.
Beyond Australia, this person will hold real influence over the APAC commercial strategy and carry the commercial authority of a Sales Director from day one.
What You Will Be Doing
* Define and execute Australia's utility-scale BESS market entry strategy — from pipeline origination through to commercial close
* Establish and activate a network of IPPs, renewable developers, EPC contractors, and grid operators to build a credible local pipeline
* Translate the Australian regulatory environment — NEM, WEM, AEMO GPS, FCAS, grid-forming requirements — into commercial strategy for a global executive audience
* Build key channel partnerships with tier-1 EPC and SI partners capable of integrating the product into major infrastructure projects
* Represent the Australian market perspective into APAC product and engineering teams, ensuring local compliance and market fit are embedded in the broader strategy
Who We Are Looking For
You are a proven operator in Australian utility-scale energy — not someone exploring the sector, but someone already embedded in it. Your network is warm. Your deals are real. And you are ready to build something that lasts.
* Senior or Director-level involvement in utility-scale renewables within the Australian market
* Demonstrated portfolio of Utility-scale BESS projects delivered, closed or otherwise.
* Intimate working knowledge of Australia's grid connection and regulatory framework (NER Chapter 5, AEMO GPS, NEM/WEM dynamics)
* Existing relationships with IPPs, renewable developers, EPCs, network operators, etc.
* Comfortable operating with autonomy inside a global corporate structure — you build the process, you don't inherit one
