About the Role
The successful applicant will complete terms in Geriatric Rehabilitation, Community Rapid Access (BRACE) at Mona Vale Hospital and Acute geriatrics at the Northern Beaches Hospital.
The Advanced Trainee will provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
Hospital Details
Mona Vale Hospital – a subacute facility offering a 24 bed Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) for Geriatric Rehabilitation, a 26 bed Beachside Rehabilitation Unit (BRU) for General Rehabilitation, Stroke and Amputees, a 20 bed Palliative Care and Geriatric Assessment and Management Unit, a 24/7 Urgent Care Centre, and a Community Health Centre. The hospital is located in a beautiful beachside setting.
Northern Beaches Hospital – a comprehensive facility with 486 beds, a 50-bed Emergency Department, 20‐bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging and diagnostic facilities, a medical centre collocated with ED, state‐of‐the‐art education and interactive SIM centre, and a Helipad for Emergency Transport.
The hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors, teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors.
What You'll Be Doing
To provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care
* High level communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non‐clinical audience
* Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
* Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
* Demonstrated high level independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly
* Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training
* Demonstrated interest and commitment to further education and practice in Geriatrics
