Senior Manager, Product Strategy
We are partnering with a leading Australian energy retailer to appoint a Senior Manager, Product Strategy within its Retail Markets division.
This is a strategic leadership role focused on portfolio performance, customer growth and commercial decision making.
The organisation is strengthening its product capability and is seeking an experienced leader who can combine commercial insight, strategic thinking and strong stakeholder influence to help shape business direction.
Reporting to the Head of Product, you will lead a team of Product Managers while driving strategy across a portfolio of customer products and segments. You will play a key role in identifying growth opportunities, evaluating commercial priorities and supporting executive decision making through high quality strategic recommendations.
This is not a traditional product delivery position. The focus is on defining direction, assessing opportunities and ensuring the business invests in the initiatives that deliver the greatest value for customers and the organisation.
The Opportunity
You will work across a complex consumer portfolio, bringing together customer insights, market intelligence, commercial performance and regulatory considerations to inform strategic decisions.
A significant component of the role involves preparing executive briefing notes, strategic papers and business recommendations for senior stakeholders. Success will depend on your ability to simplify complex issues, evaluate trade offs and provide clear direction in an environment with competing priorities.
Alongside strategic ownership, you will contribute to the ongoing development of the product function, building capability, establishing standards and supporting a high performing team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead product and portfolio strategy across customer segments and fuel types
* Develop strategic recommendations that support growth, retention and profitability objectives
* Prepare executive briefing notes, investment recommendations and decision support papers
* Assess market opportunities, customer trends and competitive activity
* Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes
* Lead strategic discovery activities for complex and high value initiatives
* Define priorities and guide investment decisions across competing opportunities
* Partner with stakeholders across Pricing, Finance, Customer Strategy, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Sales and Digital
* Lead, coach and develop Product Managers
* Support the continued evolution and maturity of the product function
About You
You bring experience from product strategy, commercial strategy, corporate strategy, management consulting or a similarly strategic environment.
You are comfortable working with ambiguity, analysing complex information and influencing senior stakeholders. You have a track record of turning insights into action and helping organisations make better commercial decisions.
You will ideally bring:
* Experience leading strategic initiatives within a customer focused organisation
* Strong commercial acumen and portfolio management capability
* Demonstrated experience preparing executive level briefing papers and strategic recommendations
* Experience influencing senior stakeholders and guiding business decisions
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Previous people leadership experience, including coaching and performance management
* Experience within a regulated, consumer focused or complex commercial environment will be highly regarded (Banking, Financial Services, Telco etc)
Remuneration
$180,000 to $220,000 total fixed remuneration, inclusive of superannuation, plus a bonus opportunity.
