About this role Join a fast‐growing engineering business in Melbourne delivering complex, large‐scale projects across infrastructure, industrial, utilities and renewable sectors.This is an opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer to take ownership of high‐impact building services design, working across major operational facilities and technically challenging environments.You'll play a key role in leading end‐to‐end electrical design packages, driving quality outcomes, and shaping projects from concept through to delivery. This position is suited to an experienced engineer who thrives in a hands‐on technical leadership role comfortable managing client relationships, mentoring engineers, and taking full accountability for design decisions on major projects.With a strong pipeline of large‐scale work, you'll be contributing across diverse environments including operational sites, brownfield upgrades and essential infrastructure, where practical design and real‐world constructability matter.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review electrical drawings, calculations, reports, specifications and schedules.Undertake design of LV power distribution, main switchboards, distribution boards, lighting, emergency lighting, communications, security, fire detection, cable containment, earthing and lightning protection systems.Undertake or support medium voltage design for 11kV, 22kV and 33kV systems, including reticulation, switchgear, transformers, earthing and protection interfaces.Manage and mentor an overseas design team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across different time zones.Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.Coordinate with project managers to ensure design deliverables are aligned with project schedules and budgets.Participate in client meetings and design reviews, presenting technical information clearly and confidently.QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.Professional Engineer (PE) licence or equivalent certification is preferred.Minimum of 7 years (10 preferred) of experience in LV design.Experience in leading and managing a design team, preferably with international team management experience.Strong understanding of relevant standards and regulations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.At CoMade, we value diversity and are an equal opportunity employer.
