Due to a strong project pipeline AECOMs Energy Team is seeking an experienced Associate Director Secondary Engineer to lead and deliver complex secondary systems projects.
This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with strong consultancy experience technical leadership capabilities and a client-focused mindset.
You will work across transmission and distribution projects ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.
We're flexible on location with the role open to candidates based in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth or Brisbane.
How you'll make a difference
Act as Project Lead and Technical Authority on secondary systems projects.
Prepare, review and sign off on detailed design drawings, protection reports and relay configurations to meet Australian Standards and client requirements.
Lead project teams, oversee timelines and budgets and provide guidance and support to peer engineers.
Serve as a client-facing contact providing advice, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear professional communication.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across transmission, distribution, renewables, traction power and other engineering teams to deliver innovative and technically outstanding solutions.
Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar) with RPEV (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain.
Extensive technical competency and leadership experience in secondary protection and control system projects.
Proven experience in detailed design preparation of protection reports, preparation of relay configurations and review/sign-off of technical documentation.
Strong understanding of transmission and distribution system protection and control in accordance with Australian Standards.
Experience in Transmission Network Service Providers within Australia is highly coveted.
Demonstrated experience in project leadership and client-facing roles in consultancy environments with excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
