KITCHEN & RENOVATION CONCEPTS is offering an apprenticeship in cabinet making (Kitchen & Bathrooms) usually starting in January, but depending on individual circumstances. This course leads to a nationally recognised Certificate III qualification and usually takes 4 years to complete.
Apprenticeship will suit a young person with a passion to learn and develop the skills associated with building and installing all the elements of kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes and commercial joinery. The role involves being trained in the use of the tools and equipment used by a cabinet maker and learning about the design and use of materials used in these applications. As the business has modern up‐to‐date machinery such as CNCs and edgebanders, an apprentice will receive current and interesting training.
During the apprenticeship, the apprentice will gain a wide range of specialised and technical knowledge and skills relating to the building industry as well as to the joinery industry. The company undertakes varied projects ranging from small residential jobs to large commercial projects, providing a good understanding of the many facets of the building industry as a whole.
Initially, the apprentice will be based in our factory in Dubbo but as skill levels progress, you will go out on‐site to assist and learn from our experienced tradesmen as they install the joinery. To do this, you will need to obtain a Construction White Card.
As an apprentice, you will be part of a team but also need to use your own initiative. Strong problem‐solving ability, keen attention to detail, and good organisational skills are required. Plan interpretation will be a significant part of the role, and good maths skills are an advantage.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification enables you to obtain a Contractor Licence as well as a Qualified Supervisor licence through Fair Trading. Experience in the joinery industry may also lead to opportunities to progress to a Joinery Project Management position.
