About The Role
* Prepare and review reinstated financial statements and manage year‐end processes end‐to‐end, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and audit readiness
* Lead the coordination of annual financial statements, Grants Commission return, BAS, FBT returns, and all statutory reporting obligations
* Oversee general ledger integrity, fixed asset registers, asset accounting, monthly reconciliations, and internal controls - ensuring all month‐end procedures are completed accurately and on time
* Liaise directly with external auditors, manage audit requirements, and drive the successful completion of Council's annual external audit
* Provide day‐to‐day leadership and supervision to a team of 4 (Financial Services Accountant, 2 x Assistant Financial Services Accountants, Accounts Payable Coordinator), supporting capability development and a high‐performing team culture
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in Local Government, Public Sector, Healthcare, or Education
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CA qualification highly desirable
* Minimum 5 years in a similar senior financial accounting role, with a strong track record of practical, hands‐on delivery
* Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing year‐end processes, and navigating complex audit requirements
* Solid understanding of asset accounting, including fixed asset registers, capitalisation, and reconciliation
* Demonstrated proficiency in TechnologyOne (TechOne) is mandatory – you will need to hit the ground running in this environment
