About the Team The areas of law handled within the Prosecutions and other Advocacy Team include: Prosecutions and other general advocacy (70% of the workload) Provision of advice on sufficiency of evidence, statutory prosecutions of simple and indictable offences, and related matters Agencies including: Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation Queensland Health Department of Education Department of Housing and Public Works Department of Fair Trading Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation Australian Healthy Practitioner Regulation Agency Procedural and evidential advice, and advocacy appearances in: Coronial inquests Proceedings under the Mental Health Act **** (including appeals in the Mental Health Court and reviews in the Mental Health Review Tribunal) Blue-card appeals QCAT and QCATA hearings Professional regulation matters Subpoena and disclosure disputes Pardons General appeal matters Other injunctive matters Written advocacy & general advice (30% of the workload) includes: Procedural matters related to prosecution and general advocacy Regulatory investigations and law enforcement General statutory interpretation Your Key Responsibilities Contribute to Crown Law's leadership community and improve systems and practices to achieve business objectives.
Provide expert and authoritative legal advice and representation to government clients.
Participate in Crown Law's business planning process, including project sponsorship and workgroup participation.
Provide leadership and management support to team leaders, including recruitment, staff management, budget management and client billing processes.
Build the business of Crown Law by proactively undertaking reinvestment activities.
Maintain a performance culture, dealing proactively with performance issues, providing development opportunities, involving induction activities, mentoring staff and implementing the performance management framework.
Create a supportive environment where team members strive to achieve best practice and share information freely.
Ensure team meets productivity and revenue targets.
Act as an expert source of advice to lawyers on complex and sensitive matters.
Deputise for the Assistant Crown Solicitor during absence.
Assist the Assistant Crown Solicitor in allocating work practices and resource utilisation to meet customer requirements.
Help take unpopular stands if necessary and support Senior Leadership Team decisions.
Maintain self-development and achieve CPD points.
Participate in feedback processes such as 360.
Comply with office standards, including the client service charter, billable hour targets, quality and timeliness measures.
Applications remain current for 12 months.
