The Manager, Operational Forest & Fire Planning will lead the development of operational (2-5 year) forest and fire management plans, including the Joint Fuel Management Plan and Operational Forest Management Plan. They will lead a diverse team of planning experts to ensure the 2–5-year plans operationalise the strategic direction, reflect statewide and regional priorities, incorporate local knowledge, and are informed by the best available evidence.
This role involves working as part of a flexible and supportive team, with opportunities to influence community safety. The candidate should have extensive forest and fire planning experience, demonstrated project leadership, and accreditations in fire/emergency response.
The role also oversees the Cultural Fire Officer, supporting partnerships with Traditional Owners to advance cultural fire initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
* Tertiary qualification in science, public policy, natural resource or environmental management, business management, or equivalent (desirable).
* Proven experience in leading planning processes for programs/projects, including stakeholder engagement and legislative compliance, preferably on public land.
This is an ongoing position with flexible work location within the Port Phillip Region and hybrid arrangements.
