Biosecurity Officer and Senior Biosecurity Officer
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), Northam WA.
Salary: Level 3-4 $89,464‐$104,044 pa (Public Sector CSA Agreement 2024, effective 13 June 2026).
Positions available: One permanent full‐time L3 Biosecurity Officer in Esperance; One fixed‐term full‐time L4 Senior Biosecurity Officer in Northam until 30 June 2028.
These roles play a critical part in protecting WA's environment and communities through surveillance inspections, responding to exotic pest reports, and undertaking control activities for declared high‐risk species in accordance with approved action plans.
What we're looking for
* Knowledge of invasive species that threaten the community, environment, and economy.
* Experience with field, regulatory, surveillance and/or inspection activities.
* Ability to maintain accurate records of biosecurity regulatory activities.
* Ability to interpret, apply, and advise on relevant acts, regulations, policies, procedures and systems.
* Strong communication skills to engage with a diverse range of people at all levels.

Eligibility
Permanent appointment requires Australian citizenship or permanent residency. Fixed‐term or casual appointment requires documentary evidence of entitlement to live and work in Australia.
Applicants must provide a current National Police Certificate before commencing employment; if not held, it must be obtained prior to appointment at the applicant's expense.
Employment Conditions
DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency; employees may be required to work or travel outside normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
