Overview
Rockingham General Hospital (RGH) welcomes a 12‐month Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) program, accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC). The next cohort commences from 11 January 2027.
This program is designed for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who have passed the AMC Computer Adaptive Test (CAT MCQ) and hold limited registration. Successful completion awards the AMC Certificate but does not guarantee general registration; candidates must meet all Medical Board of Australia requirements prior to being granted general registration.
Applicants with relevant experience, particularly WA Health employees currently working or who have recently worked at RGH or within the South Metropolitan Health Service, will be highly regarded.
Program Content
The WBA assesses an IMG's clinical skills and knowledge at the PGY1 or internship level across six clinical areas: adult medicine, adult surgery, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology (women's health), paediatrics (child health), and psychiatry (mental health). Assessment is carried out through workplace-based observation by experienced senior clinicians. The program is an assessment pathway, not a bridging or training course.
Rotations for general registration are offered but not guaranteed. Enrolment is contingent on working for a minimum of 12 months at RGH.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Position is open to IMGs registered with the Medical Board of Australia. Experience with RGH or South Metropolitan Health Service within the last 24 months is highly regarded.
Selection is not guaranteed even if all eligibility criteria are met. Candidate fee of AU$15,000 applies, payable in instalments, plus additional AMC fees.
Your application must be submitted online via MedCareersWA. Applicants must have a current, valid email address in order to apply online. Emailed applications will not be accepted.
