About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager and Senior Management, the Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety systems across multiple subdivision sites. This role will focus on ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and promoting a culture of safety excellence throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee and implement Appian Civil's Work Health and Safety management system across all active sites.
· Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with WHS standards.
· Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox meetings, and ongoing safety training for staff and subcontractors.
· Assist with incident investigations and the development of corrective and preventive actions.
· Collaborate with project teams and site supervisors to identify and mitigate risks.
· Prepare and maintain accurate WHS documentation and reports.
· Provide guidance and support to promote a positive and proactive safety culture across all operations.
Skills and Experience
· Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent qualification).
· Previous experience in a Safety Officer or WHS role within the civil construction industry.
· Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, and compliance requirements.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and lead safety initiatives.
· Well-developed organisational and reporting skills.
· Current White Card and driver's licence required.
