We are seeking an experienced Afternoon Shift Guillotine Operator to join our team in Mulgrave, Victoria. This is an opportunity to join a friendly, supportive setting where your precision and efficiency will directly impact our operations and success.
About the Role:
This full-time, afternoon shift (3pm-11pm) position requires a meticulous operator to manage the cutting of printed materials using a computerized guillotine. You will be responsible for ensuring perfect accuracy, maximizing material yield, and maintaining strict safety standards. This role is crucial for preparing work for subsequent finishing processes and ensuring the final product meets the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and set up modern computerized guillotine machines to accurately cut paper and board stock according to job specifications.
- Interpret job dockets, cutting guides, and technical drawings to determine required measurements and quantities.
- Perform essential maintenance tasks, including changing and setting blades correctly and safely.
- Conduct continuous quality checks to ensure all cuts are precise, square, and free from defects.
- Manage material flow and stacking efficiently, minimizing waste and handling stock safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering strictly to all machine operating and safety procedures.
- Assist the finishing department team with general tasks as needed.
Ideal Candidate:
- Demonstrated experience operating computerised guillotine machines within a commercial print environment.
- Exceptional mathematical skills and the ability to interpret complex measurements with high precision.
- Strong understanding of paper stocks, grain direction, and safe handling procedures.
- Mechanically competent with the ability to perform routine machine setup and blade changes.
- Highly reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of maintaining focus during repetitive tasks.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with production staff.
