Veterinary Nurse – Maternity Leave Cover (Fixed-Term, Full-Time – 6 Months)

At Oxley Highway Vet Hospital, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a 6-month maternity leave cover contract, with the potential for ongoing employment thereafter.

About the Role
You will be working full-time alongside experienced vets and nurses, providing high-quality nursing care across a varied and interesting caseload. Duties include (but are not limited to):
* Assisting our veterinarians with routine exams and procedures
* Providing surgical and hospital nursing care, including anaesthetic monitoring
* Delivering pre- and post-operative patient care, as well as offering grief support to clients
* Administering medications and preparing treatments as required
* Managing the admission and discharge process for surgical and hospital patients
* Communicating treatment plans and updates to clients
* Performing blood collection, testing, and IV catheter placement
* Assisting with diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasounds)
* Supporting dental care, including scale and polish and performing dental x-rays
* Contributing to day-to-day nursing tasks to support our vets and team in providing the highest standard of patient care
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 2 years' experience as a qualified Veterinary Nurse
* Confidence in both surgical and medical nursing
* Strong anaesthetic monitoring skills
* Excellent communication and client care abilities
* Ability to work well within a close-knit team
* A calm, organised, and proactive approach under pressure
