With approximately 60 staff nationally, the business has built an excellent reputation across commercial, industrial, residential, education and infrastructure sectors. Now entering a significant growth phase, the organisation has ambitious plans to expand its Queensland team into a major market presence over the coming years. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineering leader to take the reins and play a pivotal role in building a future Tier 2 consultancy.
About the Role
This is not a typical State Director position. You will inherit an established business, an existing team, strong national support and a respected brand, whilst being given the autonomy and backing to drive significant growth across the state. Reporting directly into the executive leadership team, you will lead business development, client relationships, project delivery and team growth across Queensland. This role will suit a commercially minded Structural Engineer who enjoys building teams, winning work and mentoring future leaders. Someone who wants to leave a genuine legacy rather than simply maintain the status quo. For the right person, there is a genuine pathway to equity participation as the business continues its growth journey.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and grow the Queensland Structural Engineering division
* Manage and mentor a team of engineers, drafters and future leaders
* Drive business development activities and secure new project opportunities
* Oversee project delivery across commercial, industrial, residential, education and infrastructure sectors
* Contribute to strategic planning, operational performance and business growth initiatives
* Manage project profitability, resource planning and team performance
* Represent the business within the engineering and construction community
* Support recruitment, succession planning and capability development
About You
* Degree qualified
* Significant experience within a Structural Engineering consultancy environment - ideally 20-30 years.
* Previous leadership experience as a State Director, General Manager, Principal Engineer, Regional Manager or similar
* Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated business development success
* Experience delivering commercial, industrial and large‐scale building projects
* Existing industry networks within Queensland
* Passionate about developing people and building high‐performing teams
* Energetic, personable and relationship driven
* Looking for an opportunity to genuinely influence the future direction of a business
