The Role
As the Principal Financial Analyst - Treasury, you will provide specialist financial expertise across Council, supporting informed decision‐making on complex and high‐value matters. You will deliver authoritative advice based on rigorous financial evaluation, technical accounting, analysis and modelling. Your work will support major projects, business cases, proposals, financing alternatives, investment decisions, and broader commercial activities. Operating at a strategic level, you will provide high‐level treasury accounting, compliance, reporting and analytical support to ensure Council's treasury operations are well‐governed, sustainable and aligned with legislative and policy requirements.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or related discipline.
* Membership of a professional accounting or other professional body.
* Ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards, contributing to a culture of performance excellence.
* Substantial experience evaluating proposals using advanced financial analysis techniques and business models, incorporating advanced use of business software, Microsoft Excel and corporate accounting systems.
* Demonstrated experience undertaking research, financial analysis and modelling to provide recommendations or solutions to current or emerging issues.
* Substantial experience providing a financial and business advisory service to senior managers and other customers, including financial analysis, planning and management reporting.
* Demonstrated knowledge of financing options including leasing and related cash‐flow implications, and ability to interpret and account for financial instruments and other financial transactions.
* Experience in financial analysis and researching complex accounting issues, providing interpretation and developing solutions for customers.
* Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to build and maintain relationships with staff at all levels.
* High‐level organisational skills to work with minimal supervision, meet tight deadlines, and operate in an environment of competing priorities.
