Role Overview
We are looking for a qualified Electrician to join the High Voltage (HV) department where your primary responsibility involves maintaining one of Queensland’s largest privately owned HV networks. Your work will be customer-focused, ensuring constant power to operational teams and other off-takers, while maintaining the HV network to a high safety and reliability standard. The role includes routine maintenance of electrical equipment, breakdown works, installation/replacement of equipment within switchyards and substations, problem diagnosis, and predictive maintenance jobs.
Responsibilities
- High voltage equipment testing and commissioning within 132kV/33kV/11kV/3.3kV reticulation systems
- Maintenance of electrical infrastructure including battery charges, switchboards, power transformers, circuit breakers and other indoor/outdoor HV switchyard switchgear
- Assisting with switching operations within the HV network
- Maintaining the power distribution network, ensuring safe and reliable operation
- Attending to breakdown repairs within the HV network
Qualifications
- Hold Electrical trade qualification with the ability to obtain a Queensland Electrical license
- Hold a current manual driver's licence
- Sound understanding of workplace Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S;)
- Experience in the HV and mining industry
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Prepared for change and highly attentive to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Protection relay testing experience
- Switchboard maintenance, commissioning and testing experience
- Experience testing and commissioning of large and small power transformers
- Experience maintaining and testing indoor and outdoor switchgear
- HV cable jointing and termination experience is preferable
- Training and upskilling will be provided in HVIA, EWP, Rigger, HR, Forklift, Cable Joining, VLC
