You will be supported on the job by experienced staff and management, as part of the team working to keep the WA community safe.
We are currently seeking Prison Officers for facilities in the Perth Metropolitan area, Albany, Bunbury, Greenough (Geraldton), Roebourne and West Kimberley (Derby).
As a Prison Officer
You will interact with minimum to maximum security prisoners on a 24/7 roster system.
Prison Officers are responsible for ensuring the safe, secure, and effective operation of prisons and effective management of prisoners.
You can make a real difference by modelling positive behaviours and motivating prisoners to gain skills and knowledge to re-enter the community, to reduce the risk of re-offending.
What we are looking for
- Outstanding communication skills to build positive relationships with a diverse prisoner population.
- A practical and common-sense approach to solving problems and being able to adapt to challenging situations.
- Excellent team working skills with colleagues and prisoners to achieve personal and professional goals.
- An awareness and understanding of Aboriginal people and their culture.
Experience
Experienced adult custodial officers
- Successful applicants with relevant adult custodial qualifications and experience may be eligible for an Accelerated Training Program at the Academy.
Eligibility
- You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or hold Australian permanent residency.
- You also need to hold an unrestricted Australian driver’s licence (minimum C or C-A).
