Lead Electrical, Grid & EBoP
Vestas Australia is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Power System Studies to join a dynamic team focused on delivering grid solutions across the Asia Pacific.
Responsibilities
* Review Balance of Plant (BoP) designs, drawings and submissions from subcontractors against industry best practice, law, international and local standards, including Vestas' contractual requirements and grid connection perspectives.
* Support power system studies to define wind farm generator performance standards and develop control system functional designs, including reactive plant requirements; coordinate with the grid modeling department.
* Simulate and model wind power plants, including WTG, PV and storage.
* Research and prepare formal responses to inquiries regarding wind farm technical performance and prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
* Ensure grid connection deliverables are submitted on time, safely and with high quality.
* Assess performance, efficiency and reliability of balance of plant systems for renewable energy projects.
* Identify and resolve issues and inefficiencies within BoP systems, diagnosing problems, performing root cause analysis, reviewing documents and coordinating with teams.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve grid connection issues promptly.
* Engage and manage consultants when required.
* Attend safety, design, technical and risk meetings, workshops and reviews; provide input.
* Maintain accurate records, prepare reports and document all grid connection activities, milestones and outcomes.
* Review grid connection documents.
Qualifications
* Electrical engineering degree with power systems knowledge and a minimum of 3–4 years' experience.
* Registered or Certified Professional Engineer (RPEng or CPEng) preferred.
Competencies
* Analytical mindset for problem identification and resolution.
* Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
* Experience working with international stakeholders.
* Proficiency with PSCAD, PSSE and/or PowerFactory.
* Experience in the electricity generation sector.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and negotiating effectively.
* Experience in wind or other renewable industries preferred.
