Our team is technology agnostic and always looking at innovation. We work closely with the broader Leidos Engineering, Field Service Representatives (FSRs) and the customer's technical team. Candidates must be Australian Citizens and be able to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance. The role is based in Scoresby with a hybrid work model – a minimum of one day in the office per week once settled, with flexibility depending on commitments. Some local travel may be required to support customer reviews and technical investigations. Full‐time or part‐time (minimum 4 days) opportunities are considered. Members also join the Leidos Life Days program and accrue up to 12 additional days of leave each year.
Your New Role and Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity exists to join a team focused on sustaining and introducing new capabilities into service for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Systems supported include:
* Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)
* Ruggedised Portable Computing Systems
* Weather Stations and Weather RADAR equipment
* Hydrographic survey systems
Our Mission Systems Engineers maintain and evolve the ICT product baseline and interface structures for multiple delivered sub‐systems. They also assist in the smooth transition of new capabilities into service. Reporting to the Technical Lead, the Mission Systems Engineer will:
* Develop and maintain mission system software baselines for the delivered mission systems, including building software images, testing applications and interfaces, applying Group Policy, security controls, patches and updates.
* Maintain effective integration between all mission system elements.
* Use a whole‐of‐system approach to investigate reported defects/problems in the system.
* Assist with the coordination and planning of mission system Security Accreditation within the Defence ICT Cyber‐Security Accreditation Framework.
* Design, implement and support technical solutions.
* Manage and develop technical documentation defining systems configuration and design processes.
* Provide technical advice to the Leidos maintenance team and RAN end users.
* Work with junior engineering staff to expand mission engineering depth and expertise.
* Provide input into potential enhancements to the delivered mission systems.
What You'll Bring
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems, Telecommunication/Network, or Mechatronics/Robotics engineering.
* Experience with IT infrastructure and platforms such as Windows, Linux, and Active Directory.
* Experience implementing ICT security controls and settings.
* Engineering experience, preferably within the Defence industry.
* Working knowledge and experience with Defence ICT Cyber‐Security Accreditation.
* Experience deploying and managing software applications onto hardware systems.
* An understanding of the key elements/phases of Systems Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support activities necessary to maintain the systems.
* Experience developing engineering artefacts such as Applications for Deviation, Problem Reports, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and engineering investigation reports.
* Experience in risk and hazard identification/management within a Cyber‐Security regulatory framework.
