Salary range: $1,468.00 – $1,695.80 per week (plus superannuation and allowances)
Role Summary
As a Mechanical Tradesperson, you will undertake maintenance, repairs, installation, commissioning, and modification of hydraulic/pneumatic plant items, vehicles, and heavy machinery. You may also supervise apprentices or support staff on mechanical tasks. The position is based in Broken Hill and requires occasional overtime, after‐hour callouts, and statewide travel.
Responsibilities
* Perform maintenance and repair work on plant items, vehicles, and mechanical equipment.
* Install, maintain, repair, commission, and modify complex machinery driven by hydraulic and pneumatic principles.
* Supervise apprentices and assist other mechanics as needed.
* Attend after‐hour callouts and travel throughout the state as scheduled.
* Operate safely and manage fatigue according to the organization's WH&S policies.
Qualifications
* Automotive Vehicle Mechanic Qualification with extensive experience on heavy vehicles and plant.
* Current Construction Industry White Card and unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver's licence.
* Preferred: Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's licence.
* Willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed.
* Experience in welding and metal fabrication highly desirable.
* Strong problem‐solving, fault‐diagnosis, and customer‐service skills.
* A solid focus on safety with the ability to identify, communicate, and report environmental hazards.
