Job Overview

This hybrid role requires working an average of two days per week from an HPE office. You will be a Sales Specialist and Consultant focused on technology, services, and/or technology management services (TMS).

Job Description

Sales Specialists & Consultants are product, services, software, or solution specialists that lead pursuit in their assigned focus areas. They collaborate with and support Account Managers, providing specialist expertise within the sales team. This role drives proactive campaigns to build the pipeline and uses specialized knowledge to prospect, qualify, negotiate, and close opportunities. You may have named accounts allocated, cover a designated geography, or be allocated to a high‐potential competitive account.

Responsibilities

* Develop and drive the sales pipeline: capture leads outside the specialization and manage them in a closed‐loop system.
* Maintain knowledge of competitors and strategically position HPE products and services.
* Use specialty expertise to identify new opportunities and expand existing ones, building and driving pursuit.
* Support Account Managers with input on business development and solution expertise.
* Define quota objectives and future direction for the defined product category.
* Manage outsourcing deals (when applicable).
* Establish professional, consultative relationships with clients, up to C‐level, focusing on unique business needs.
* Collaborate with external partners to deliver sales.
* Grow contractual renewals for mid‐to‐large accounts, pursuing higher total contract‐value renewals.
* Coordinate supporting sales activities.

Education & Experience Required

* Bachelor's or higher degree and directly related previous work experience.
* Demonstrated achievement of progressively higher quota, diversity of business customers, and senior‐level customer interface.
* Extensive selling experience within the industry and with similar products.
* Typically 8–12 years of advanced sales experience.
* Project management skills required.
* 2–3 years of product sales in the desired specialty.

Knowledge and Skills

* Expert knowledge of products, solutions, services, and competitors with ability to sell large solutions.
* Industry and market segment knowledge integrated into consultative selling.
* Application of program/project management methods to define, plan, cost, resource, track, and ensure successful pursuit.
* Understanding of IT inside the specialization and how HPE solutions address vertical industry challenges.
* Account planning and accurate revenue forecasting skills.
* Collaboration with management and sales teams to integrate specialist sales with other activities.
* Positive customer relationships to ensure account retention and growth.
* Leadership and initiative in driving specialty sales – prospecting, negotiating, closing deals.
* High service or product knowledge and professionalism in researching and sharing service‐related information.
* Deep knowledge of competitors, use of Siebel, and ability to forecast business.
* Understanding of high‐value software solutions and services sales.
* Leverage services as part of strategic product sales.
* Maintaining expertise on industry trends, partner solutions, and IT trends.
