Overview
Port of Brisbane is looking for a Hydrographic Surveyor. The role is a Monday to Friday onsite position at the Port of Brisbane, with opportunities for overtime and offsite work.
Your work will involve installing, calibrating, operating, and maintaining hydrographic and metocean equipment on the Port's dedicated survey vessels, and providing technical support to the dredging fleet. You will also support external clients on a range of challenging projects along the Queensland coast.
You will be responsible for producing and distributing high‐quality survey deliverables to PBPL's key stakeholders, and will actively participate in the project management of external survey projects.
Responsibilities
* Install, calibrate, operate and maintain hydrographic and metocean equipment on dedicated survey vessels.
* Provide technical support to the dredging fleet as required.
* Support external clients on projects along the Queensland coast.
* Produce and distribute survey deliverables to stakeholders in a timely fashion.
* Take an active role in project management of external survey projects.
Qualifications
* Hold a degree in surveying or a related discipline and ideally have experience in dredging and port surveying.
* Be a qualified CPHS Level 1 or 2 professional Hydrographic Surveyor.
* Have extensive knowledge of hydrographic surveying software suites such as QPS, Caris, Applanix POSPAC and Microstation.
* Have experience operating Reson, Norbit, Kongsberg Multibeam Systems and Applanix POS MVs.
* Be proficient in mobilising, installing, testing and calibrating sensor equipment and in processing and interpreting bathymetric data sets.
* Have strong computer literacy, especially around sensor integration; Python coding experience is desirable.
* Have trailer boat launching experience, a medium rigid‐vessel licence is desirable.
* Be an effective communicator, able to work independently or collaboratively, and comfortable working away from home.
* Hold a current driver's licence and be able to complete pre‐employment medical and police checks.
