Overview
Randstad Senior Finance is delighted to partner with an Australian Owned manufacturer in Melbourne's South East to recruit a dedicated and analytical Financial Accountant. This role is responsible for supporting the core finance function through accurate financial reporting, month-end processes, compliance activities, and operational accounting support. You will work closely with the operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to safeguard and ensure financial integrity across inventory, warehousing, logistics, and sales activities. It represents a fantastic opportunity for a professional looking to blend technical accounting rigour with genuine cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the preparation of monthly management and financial reports.
* Maintain and manage lease accounting requirements in accordance with the relevant Accounting Standard.
* Complete the preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and compile underlying data for FBT returns, as well as assist with other statutory reporting requirements as needed.
* Prepare and lodge payroll-related obligations, including Payroll Tax, Superannuation, and Workers Compensation.
* Work closely with the AP and AR functions, providing oversight as required.
* Assist with the delivery of reporting obligations to company financiers.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and manage leased asset registers covering vehicles, forklifts, and properties.
* Liaise with all internal departments to provide financial insights that support operational decision-making.
* Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
* Contribute to ongoing process improvements, system enhancements, and the maintenance of strong internal controls.
The Ideal Candidate
* CA or CPA qualification, or being actively part-qualified, is highly preferred.
* 3–5 years of practical accounting experience, ideally gained within distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or FMCG environments.
* Proven experience utilising ERP systems (such as SAP or NetSuite).
* Intermediate to advanced Excel capabilities matched with strong analytical capability and a sharp attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities effectively within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
