Azooa is inviting Expressions of Interest (via LinkedIn Easy Apply) for an experienced, NV1-cleared Full Stack Web Developer to support a major Australian Army initiative delivering modern, data-driven decision‑support capabilities.
This chance forms part of our response to RFQ LH-05089 under the Department of Defence ICT Labour Hire panel.
Work Model & Project Type
- Hybrid (on‑site for meetings, testing, workshops & engineering tasks)
- Greenfield + ongoing Defence capability uplift
About the Program
The Australian Army is investing heavily in data as a capability — enabling faster, more informed decision‑making across operational, training, strategic and support domains. This role contributes directly to that mission by helping develop a new decision‑support platform while also shaping future Defence applications that will integrate into the One Defence Data (1DD) ecosystem.
The initial work is intentionally designed to provide a smooth introduction to Defence tooling, processes, and security frameworks. As the project progresses, the developer will support larger, more complex systems requiring deeper integration, architectural uplift, legacy migration, cross‑team collaboration, and ongoing platform evolution.
This Full Stack Developer role involves building secure, maintainable, scalable applications that deliver critical data insights for Army personnel. The work includes designing and developing front‑end visualisations, creating backend APIs and workflows, integrating with Defence data sources, and supporting cross‑team alignment across a wide range of technical contexts.
The developer will work closely with a senior technical lead who provides architecture support, strategic direction, and day‑to‑day mentoring, helping ensure technical integrity, continuity, and alignment to Defence patterns and standards.
You will also support external teams across the Army digital ecosystem — helping them integrate with shared services, adopt streamlined delivery processes, and identify low‑effort, high‑impact solutions that accelerate project momentum.
Key Responsibilities
- Build secure, modular, maintainable components aligned with Defence coding standards
- Implement data visualisation components that consume military-relevant datasets
- Integrate applications with Defence databases, APIs, services and platforms
- Participate in testing activities including functional, integration, performance and security testing
- Investigate and resolve defects across frontend, backend and SQL layers
- Contribute to migration strategies supporting Defence’s modernisation toward the 1DD ecosystem
- Conduct technical analysis of legacy systems and recommend cloud‑aligned approaches
- Deliver reproducible, CI/CD‑friendly code aligned with mission‑critical requirements
Cross‑Team Support & Delivery Enablement
- Provide technical guidance to external Defence teams to support efficient integration
- Help teams align with established processes, patterns, security requirements and shared services
- Identify low‑effort, high‑impact opportunities for rapid capability uplift
- Support Defence teams through technical troubleshooting, architectural alignment, and delivery coordination
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with business analysts, product owners, uniformed personnel and civilian stakeholders
- Translate complex functional and non‑functional requirements into actionable technical solutions
- Liaise between technical and non‑technical personnel to ensure clarity and alignment
- Guide development teams and leadership through best practices, architectural decisions and delivery considerations
- Contribute to governance, compliance and security discussions as needed
⚙️ Essential Skills & Experience (Must Have)
- Strong experience with Angular and at least one modern framework (React, Vue, Svelte preferred)
- 3+ years with SQL Server (preferred), Oracle or PostgreSQL
- Strong SQL development skills including stored procedures and advanced queries
- Excellent communication skills, able to work within structured, Defence‑aligned environments
- Able to take direction, work independently, and deliver high‑quality outcomes reliably
? Desirable Skills (Highly Valued)
- Experience with military ICT systems or Commonwealth agencies
- Knowledge of Defence security, privacy, governance and compliance requirements
- Cloudera, analytics platforms or OLAP/Decision‑Support tools
- Experience guiding external consultancies or vendor teams
- Ability to influence architecture, design, and strategic implementation
? Why This Role Is Significant
- You will help shape the future of Army data capability
- You’ll contribute to systems used by Defence personnel across Australia
- You gain exposure to Defence engineering practices, security frameworks and technical platforms
- You will work under a senior technical lead, ideal for upskilling within Defence contexts
- You will participate in both greenfield innovation and brownfield modernisation efforts
- Your work directly strengthens Defence decision‑making and operational readiness
