The opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking a Master Production Planner to support our MQ‑28 Ghost Bat program. The role is based in Brisbane and requires a highly skilled analyst who can apply project planning knowledge and analytical ability across a multidisciplinary team throughout the full lifecycle of establishing manufacturing capability.


Position Summary

The Master Production Planner is accountable for defining and maintaining the master production schedule (MPS) to meet customer demand, optimize inventory and capacity utilization, and coordinate cross‑functional planning across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and fleet support. The role consolidates demand inputs, balances constraints, and leverages Open Plan Professional to create robust production schedules. Responsibilities also include production scenario management, executability reviews, skyline management and learning‑curve modelling.


Key Responsibilities

* Work with the Production team to understand the Program Strategy.
* Understand production system design, constraints, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain the MPS using Open Plan Professional.
* Build and run finite‑capacity schedules, evaluate alternatives, and recommend optimal run plans.
* Create and manage production scenarios (demand, supplier disruptions, capacity constraints, maintenance) and present quantified impacts.
* Lead executability reviews with manufacturing, maintenance, procurement and logistics to validate MPS practicality.
* Own skyline management, including learning curves and ramp‑up effects.
* Coordinate MRP inputs and work with procurement to ensure component availability.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and quality systems.


About You

* Degree in Project Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, IT, Business or related discipline.
* 5+ years' experience in production planning, supply chain or operations planning in manufacturing; hands‑on experience with Open Plan Professional and skyline management preferred.
* Strong knowledge of MPS, MRP, scheduling, capacity planning, lot‑sizing and learning‑curve modelling.
* Proficiency with Open Plan Professional and Milestones Professional.
* Experience with learning curves for production ramps and changeovers.
* Experience leading executability reviews and validating operational readiness.
* Analytical capability to evaluate demand/supply trade‑offs and interpret KPIs.
* Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP ECC/PP, SAP IBP, Oracle) and advanced Excel.
* Excellent cross‑functional communication and stakeholder management.
* Problem‑solving orientation with knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma desirable.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements. Maintain an Australian AGSVA security clearance. A Foreign Work Authorisation may be required for this role but is determined by the Department of Defence.
