The Pastoral Care Coordinatoraims to improve the behavioural outcomes for students throughquality support and intervention. Furthermore, the Pastoral CareCoordinator will oversee and support the management of studentwellbeing and behaviour across the college. The Pastoral CareCoordinator will provide an excellent role model for all staff throughsupporting and monitoring the learning and growth of effectiveteachers; and setting high and clear standards for students andstaff performance.Key Relationships: (Who are the key parties that this position interacts with?)Internal: ● Senior Management, Ohana staff and colleaguesExternal:● Community and external stakeholders● Dept of Education and Training, QCAA, ISQKeyResponsibilities● Support teaching staff to remove students from class andrelocate them to the R3 Room● Ensure schoolwork is prepared for students andcommunicated to parents for those who are bounced from● Ensure the R3 room is monitored and organised to promotepositive learning● Prompt communication and reporting to parents/guardiansand key stakeholders.● Develop engaging and effective teaching andlearning/behaviour management strategies to supportstudents with welfare and behaviour challenges● Develop and administer individualised intensive supportprograms designed to support the social emotional andbehavioural presentations of students.● Develop engaging programs and activities designed toencourage positive interactions and behaviours● Research best and current behaviour managementpractices, facilitate staff professional development, andmonitor the implementation of these practices at school.● Track student behaviour data effectively across all yearlevels● Lead retention team meetings to ensure behaviour matrix isbeing implemented consistently and accurately● Provide and record NCCD evidence and adjustments usingappropriate tracking forms, evidenced stakeholdercommunication and individualised student plans.● Provide policy and research driven recommendations toteaching staff regarding behaviour management strategiesthat best support the diverse needs of students.● Lead and model exemplary behaviour management andstaff training upon induction.● Comply with research and recommend the improvement ofrelevant legislation and policy’s related to behaviourmanagement● Be able to work exceptionally in a team environment with● Demonstrate expert knowledge in supporting students withdisabilities● Support staff in the implementation and review of classroomadjustments and individualised learning plans● Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond themanagement of classroom teachers and year level● Contribute to the overall operational management of the● Support the retention of students into the Ohana Collegeonsite or DE programs.● Work within appropriate legislative frameworks andorganisational policy and procedures including following allmandatory reporting requirements.● Be aware of his/her skillset and be willing to seek help andadvice as required● Always uphold professional integrity, e.g. discretion,confidentiality, loyalty and trustMandatoryRequirements● An extensive understanding of the issues facing youth at risk● Demonstrated ability to successfully engage young people inrelevant and dynamic learning● A demonstrated capacity to think and act strategically;
