Bothkamp Australia Farm employs up to 50 people during seasonal peak periods every year. This is generally April to November. We offer exciting career opportunities in a supportive and innovative work environment, working together with a mixture of local and international staff.
Accommodation
We have onsite accommodation available, however highly recommend the following local backpackers and caravan parks in Kununurra. We offer free pick up and drop‐off from your accommodation, with only a 15 minute drive from town to the farm.
Melon and Pumpkin Picker & Packer
Melon and pumpkin pickers & packers are required for the peak harvesting season in Kununurra – April to November. We produce rockmelons, honeydew melons, piel de sapo melons, butternut and Kent pumpkins, which we pick with modern custom‐built picking trailers (with everyone working in the shade).
Picking Supervisor
Picking supervisors manage the pickers for the season. They are responsible for managing a picking crew of 5-15 people. The position is both a supervisory as well as hands‐on manual labour job.
Machinery Operator and General Farm Hand
We are currently seeking experienced Machinery Operators and General Farm Hands, joining a small team that reports directly to the Farm Manager. Key responsibilities will include: all tractor and farm machinery operations, irrigation, general farm duties, conducting regular maintenance, and repairs where necessary. MR/HR Driver's licence would be highly regarded, as would a forklift ticket.
Spray Operator
We are currently seeking an experienced Spray Operator. You will primarily be responsible for carrying out the spraying program for the horticultural crops (melons & pumpkins) under direction of the agronomist & reporting directly to the Farm Manager. A professional attitude and good record keeping skills are desirable. This role suits people looking to work with modern spray equipment and tractors that can manage their own time well.
Diesel Mechanic
We are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic. You will primarily be responsible for all servicing and repairs of our fleet of Fendt Tractors, Volvo trucks and associated farm machinery. A professional attitude, experience with repairing tractors, the ability to work independently and good communication skills are desirable. This role suits a person that wants to work in a family farm environment, managing their own time & jobs, with the ability to have a balanced work life to enjoy what the amazing East‐Kimberley has to offer.
Auto/Light Vehicle Mechanic
We are currently seeking an experienced Auto/Light Vehicle Mechanic. You will primarily be responsible for all servicing and repairs of our fleet of light vehicles (mainly Toyota), forklifts and associated smaller farm machinery. A professional attitude, experience with repairing Hilux and Landcruiser cars, the ability to work independently and good communication skills are desirable. This role suits a person that wants to work in a family farm environment, managing their own time & jobs, with the ability to have a balanced work life to enjoy what the amazing East‐Kimberley has to offer.
