About The Branch
The Inquiries, Prosecutions and Administrative Law (IPA) branch comprises about 40 lawyers, paralegals, project managers and support staff. It provides specialist legal services and advice on administrative action, licensing, judicial review, VCAT proceedings, investigations, privileges, prosecutions, Royal Commissions, and personal injury claims involving wards of the State.
About the Role
You will support and manage complex and sensitive litigation across a diverse range of cases, focusing on state care and personal injury claims. You will provide high‑level practical legal advice, conduct thorough research, and contribute to the growth and development of the VGSO.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage in client relationship management and marketing initiatives
* Share knowledge and develop internal precedents
* Mentor junior solicitors and support their professional development
* Participate in staff meetings and organisational activities
Skills & Experience
* Post‑admission candidate with 1–2 years of practising experience
* Desire to manage complex proceedings in state courts and tribunals
* Experience in general personal injury matters or civil litigation claims (highly regarded)
* Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
* Strong oral and written advice skills with thorough legal research and analysis
