Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is a leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) delivering holistic primary health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Derby and surrounding regions. Our organization is dedicated to providing innovative public health programs alongside comprehensive healthcare services, operating under stringent agreements with various government and health entities.

As the operating setting for ACCHS continues to evolve, DAHS remains committed to adapting and responding to the changing needs of the communities we serve, ensuring that our programs are effective and culturally appropriate.

Position Overview

The Be Healthy Project Officer will play a key role in assessing and enhancing the delivery and effectiveness of the Be Healthy Program. This position involves maintaining accurate participant records, entering data into databases, and assisting with program evaluations through community feedback. The overarching goal is to empower Aboriginal individuals to improve their health through increased physical activity and better nutrition, leveraging both research and community knowledge.

Our Be Healthy Program, co‐designed with community input, focuses on providing practical education related to chronic disease management, healthy cooking, stress management, and group activities, fostering a supportive environment for health improvement.

Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and evaluate program delivery and participant outcomes.
* Support participants in developing self‐efficacy and knowledge for healthier lifestyles.
* Assist in developing culturally appropriate assessment tools for measuring health behavior changes.
* Conduct follow‐up assessments with program participants.
* Document any organizational changes related to healthcare provision.
* Promote teamwork and adhere to safety and quality improvement principles.
* Engage with community members to gather insights and feedback.
* Participate in staff development and training as required.
Candidate Profile
* Aboriginality is a genuine requirement for this position as defined under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.
* Excellent communication skills and a high level of integrity in maintaining confidentiality.
* Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn.
* A valid "C" Class driver's licence and a National Police Clearance.
* Working with Children's Check.

Preferred candidates may have previous experience in health‐related fields, health promotion delivery, or relevant qualifications, and should be Covid‐19 vaccinated.

Special Requirements
* This position may involve regional and intrastate travel, including off‐road and air travel in light aircraft.
* Occasional work outside of standard office hours may be required to attend public events and facilitate program needs.
