Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Aviation Engineer to join our busy Aviation team in Brisbane. This role focuses on the technical delivery of critical airfield and airport infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, analysis, and documentation phases of projects for a diverse client base, including international and regional commercial airports and the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces' (ADF/NZDF) airfield portfolios. This position offers excellent exposure to complex projects and strong mentorship for career development.
What will a day in this role look like:
* Design Development: Contribute to the detailed design of airfield civil infrastructure projects, including pavements (runways, taxiways, aprons), geometrics, grading, and drainage systems.
* Documentation: Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design drawings, ensuring they are accurate, well-presented, and adhere to internal quality standards.
* Calculations: Perform engineering calculations and analyses (e.g., pavement design analysis, airfield geometric compliance checks) using relevant engineering software and methodologies.
* Compliance: Ensure all technical work is compliant with relevant standards and regulations, including CASA MOS 139, ICAO Annex 14, and specific Defence design manuals.
* Project Execution: Assist Project Managers and Team Leads in the delivery of projects, focusing on timely and high-quality technical outputs.
* Site Support: Support construction phase services, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing contractor submissions, and conducting occasional site visits/inspections (as required by the project).
* Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (e.g., electrical, structural, hydraulic) to integrate design elements seamlessly.
* Client Interface: Attend project meetings and workshops, clearly articulating technical options and findings to clients and stakeholders.
* Peer collaboration: Participate in AECOM's Global Aviation Technical Academy and have active involvement in the Aviation Technical Practice Group, comprised of a network of 850+ peers around the globe.

* Experience: The role is adaptable and would suit an engineer with anywhere from 3 to 10 years' experience in airside infrastructure engineering design, aviation pavement design, pavement condition assessment and evaluation.
* Client Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working with either commercial airport clients (international or regional) and/or the Defence sector (ADF/NZDF).
* Qualifications: A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field. Ability to gain professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered Engineer / RPEQ) is highly desirable.
* Knowledge: Knowledge of standards and guidelines from different organizations and authorities including CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority), FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), IATA (International Air Transport Association) and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
