About the role
The Learn to Swim Team Leader plays a key role in delivering a high-quality, safe and customer-focused aquatic education program. Supporting the Learn to Swim Coordinator, this position provides day-to-day leadership, supervision and operational support to instructors, ensuring consistent teaching standards and positive participant experiences. The role also contributes to staff development, program planning and continuous improvement, while acting as a central point of contact for staff, customers and stakeholders when required.
Shifts: Tuesday & Thursday 3.30pm-7.15pm, Wednesday & Friday 8.45am-12.30pm, Saturdays 7.30am-12.30pm. The days and times of shifts require the ability to be flexible as additional hours are likely to be available to meet the demands of the program.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day guidance, support and supervision to Learn to Swim instructors
* Assist with class allocations, ensuring participants are placed appropriately based on ability and progression
* Support rostering and scheduling of instructors to meet program demands
* Monitor and evaluate instructor performance, providing feedback and development support
* Assist in maintaining program quality, safety standards and customer satisfaction
* Act as a key contact for staff and customers, resolving issues and supporting smooth program operations
About you
To succeed as a Learn to Swim Team Leader, you will bring strong leadership capability combined with a passion for aquatic education and customer service. You will have a solid understanding of Learn to Swim programs and the ability to support and guide instructors to deliver consistent, high-quality lessons. Your communication skills will enable you to build positive relationships with staff, children and families, while confidently managing challenges as they arise. Strong organisational and time management skills are essential, allowing you to coordinate classes, contribute to rostering and meet competing priorities. You will also demonstrate a proactive approach to continuous improvement, a commitment to safety and child protection, and the flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including mornings, evenings and weekends.
Essential Qualifications
* Provide First Aid & CPR
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
