Urban Sports Bar is a premium new venue opening at Cotton Tree on the Sunshine Coast — a concept built around elevated Greek-inspired small plates, live sport, and a high-energy atmosphere.

We are looking for a Head Chef who is ready to lead from the front. Someone who can build and run a tight kitchen operation, take genuine ownership of the food, and thrive in the high-volume, high-standards environment of a premium sports bar. This is an exciting opportunity — you will help shape the food culture of the venue from day one.

The Role

Working closely with our culinary consultant, you will take ownership of the kitchen operation end to end — from pre-opening setup through to daily service, team development, and ongoing menu refinement. The food style is modern Greek-leaning small plates and snacks: visually strong, built for sharing, designed to perform under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead all kitchen operations across prep, service, and close — maintaining consistent standards on every service
* Execute and refine our Greek-inspired snacks and small plates menu in collaboration with the culinary consultant
* Build, train, and lead a high-performing kitchen team from the ground up
* Develop and enforce prep systems, SOPs, and station guides to support speed and consistency during high-volume service
* Manage food cost, portion control, and waste minimisation to hit GP targets
* Oversee supplier relationships, ordering, and stock control
* Maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene standards in line with Queensland Health requirements
* Work with front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless communication during service

What We're Looking For

* Proven Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef experience in a high-volume, quality-focused kitchen
* Genuine understanding of Mediterranean or Greek cuisine — and a passion for it
* Strong plating and presentation standards — this menu needs to look as good as it tastes
* A leader who builds people up, stays calm under pressure, and holds the standard without compromise
* Solid understanding of kitchen financials — food cost, GP, wastage, and labour
* Experience setting up kitchen systems and leading a team through a new venue opening is highly regarded

* $80,000 – $90,000 + superannuation, commensurate with experience
