We integrate planning, approvals, environmental assessment, ecology, heritage, sustainability and environmental management expertise to guide projects from concept to consent and beyond.

Opportunity
This new role is in the Newcastle office, supporting the growth of Planning & Environment capability in the Hunter region. Newcastle is a key hub for infrastructure and energy investment in NSW, offering the chance to build local knowledge, develop client relationships, and contribute to projects that shape the region.
As part of a national team, you will work with colleagues across Australia and contribute to projects throughout NSW, Victoria and Queensland, spanning infrastructure, energy and water sectors.

Responsibilities
* Prepare and contribute to environmental planning, assessment and approvals documentation (e.g., REFs, EIS inputs, environmental management plans)
* Coordinate inputs from technical specialists to support integrated project delivery
* Apply understanding of NSW planning and approvals frameworks to project work
* Support project delivery across infrastructure, energy and water sectors
* Assist with client engagement and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Contribute to bids and proposals, including methodology inputs and preparation of supporting materials
* Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams across Newcastle and nationally
Qualifications
* Experience in environmental planning or a related field
* Working knowledge of environmental planning legislation and approval frameworks
* Experience preparing or contributing to environmental planning and approvals documentation such as EIS, REF or environmental management plans
* Organised, proactive, able to coordinate inputs from multiple disciplines and manage workload to meet deadlines
* Sound judgement in problem solving and comfortable working within established processes while developing technical capability
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
Additional Skills
* Tertiary qualification in environmental planning, environmental science or a related subject
* Exposure to infrastructure, energy or water projects
* Familiarity with NSW and Commonwealth environmental planning and approvals legislation and frameworks
* Willingness to work with environmental planning frameworks in other Australian jurisdictions
* Interest in professional development, e.g., membership of a relevant industry body such as the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand or the Planning Institute of Australia
