APG Workforce is currently seeking an experienced Works Assistant to join a Transport for NSW Bridge Team based in Wagga Wagga. This is a hands‐on role working within a bridge maintenance and construction crew undertaking a wide range of advanced labouring and operational tasks across regional NSW. This opportunity is initially offered for up to 3 months with a strong possibility of extension for the right candidate.
About the Role
Working under limited supervision, the successful candidate will assist with bridge maintenance and operational activities while working both independently and within a team environment. The role requires strong practical skills, sound judgement, and the ability to complete works to required quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform advanced non‐trade labouring and operational duties
* Assist with bridge maintenance and related civil works
* Work safely in close proximity to live traffic environments
* Operate within WHS policies, procedures and legislative requirements
* Identify and resolve routine operational issues onsite
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement
* Provide support and guidance to team members when required
* Undertake labouring duties and field‐based work across various locations
* Maintain accurate communication with staff, contractors and members of the public
* Use computer systems and complete basic administrative tasks as required
About You
* White Card (Construction Industry Certification)
* Current Workers on Foot (WOF) ticket or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
* Traffic Control tickets or willingness to obtain within required timeframe
* Current C Class Driver Licence or higher
* Experience working within civil construction, bridge maintenance or infrastructure environments
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment
* Good communication and problem‐solving skills
* Willingness to undertake labouring duties and travel when required
* Ability to work occasional overtime and away from depot locations
Additional Information
* Immediate start available
* 8.5‐hour days | 76 hours per fortnight
* 9‐day fortnight roster
* Occasional camping away required
* Accommodation and allowances provided when working away from depot
* When working locally from Wagga depot, candidates will be required to source their own accommodation (options may be discussed for suitable applicants)
