What's the Role?
Carpentaria is seeking a passionate Therapeutic Specialist to join our Out of Home Care (OOHC) team. In this role, you will deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapeutic care to children and young people while supporting residential teams to embed evidence-based practice across services.
Working closely with Operations Managers and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide therapeutic assessment, intervention, planning, and practice leadership across Intensive Therapeutic Residential Care (ITRC) placements.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading implementation of the CARE framework across residential services
* Delivering therapeutic interventions and tailored Therapeutic Plans
* Conducting assessments, behaviour support, and safety planning
* Supporting placement stability and positive outcomes for children and young people
* Coaching and mentoring staff through reflective practice and therapeutic guidance
* Building capability in trauma-informed care, emotional regulation, and crisis response
* Preparing therapeutic reports, assessments, and documentation
* Collaborating with families, allied health professionals, and community stakeholders to deliver culturally safe, child-centred care
Qualifications
* A relevant tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline
* Current AHPRA registration, AASW membership, or membership with a relevant governing body
* Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with children and young people in OOHC, trauma, or child protection settings
* Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and therapeutic frameworks such as CARE
* Experience in assessment, therapeutic planning, and behaviour support
* The ability to coach, mentor, and build capability within teams
* Strong understanding of legislative and policy frameworks relevant to OOHC in the Northern Territory
