The Shift platform enables real‐time broadcast network fabrics, cloud‐native infrastructure, and wide‐area production environments that need to perform reliably in some of the most demanding production settings in the world.
NEP Australia is currently looking for a Product Owner Network & Infrastructure to join our team at the Andrew's HUB in Southbank.
As Product Owner for infrastructure, you will play a key role in turning strategic vision into clear priorities, practical requirements, and high‐quality platform releases. You will work closely with product leadership, architecture, engineering, infrastructure, commissioning, and support teams to ensure Shift continues to evolve as a reliable, scalable, and field‐ready platform. This is a hands‐on product ownership role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of networking, cloud‐native platforms, broadcast technology, and agile software delivery.
Key Responsibilities (Not Limited To)
Turning vision into delivery
* Support the strategic direction set by the VP, Platform Infrastructure & Networking and help translate the Shift roadmap into clear, actionable delivery plans.
* Work closely with the Team Lead – Platform Infrastructure & Security to support the product vision for platform infrastructure, including reliability, security, automation, Kubernetes platform services, and operational tooling.
* Help teams understand what needs to be built, why it matters, and how success will be measured.
Managing and shaping the product backlog
* Manage and maintain the product backlog for Shift platform capabilities, integrations, and technical enablement work.
* Creating, refining, and prioritising user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.
* Ensuring requirements are clear, testable, and understood by engineering teams.
* Capturing API behaviours, observability needs, operational workflows, and field‐readiness requirements.
* Balancing new feature development with technical improvements, reliability, security, and scalability.
* Removing ambiguity quickly so teams can keep moving.
Platform infrastructure, reliability, and security enablement
* Work with Infrastructure, Automation, and SRE teams to ensure the backlog includes the platform foundations needed for production use, such as infrastructure‐as‐code, GitOps workflows, CI/CD enablement, environment provisioning, observability and alerting, RBAC and policy controls, runbooks and operational handover, resilience, performance, and recovery requirements.
* Support post‐incident reviews by ensuring learnings are captured, prioritised, and followed through.
Agile delivery, planning, and release management
* Work closely with the Scrum Master, engineering leads, and delivery teams to support effective agile ways of working, including refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, release planning, and transparent progress reporting.
* Help teams understand priorities, manage trade‐offs, and keep delivery focused on quality, value, and operational readiness.
Required Skills & Experience
* 3+ years' experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a software environment.
* Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices.
* Technical fluency with API‐first products, microservices, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and core DevOps/SRE practices.
* Working knowledge of networking.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong stakeholder management and the ability to negotiate priorities across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in broadcast/IP‐based media workflows and/or live production environments, including familiarity with standards such as SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS.
* Exposure to network operating systems (NOS), disaggregated/open networking, or integration with OEM/ODM networking vendors and hardware SDKs.
* Familiarity with service‐provider routing and traffic engineering (TE) concepts and protocols.
* Comfort reading/writing OpenAPI/Swagger definitions; experience defining telemetry and API contracts.
* Familiarity with infrastructure automation, GitOps, observability, and operating platforms requiring 24x7 reliability with strong testing and release discipline.
