About the Opportunity

Help South Australians through life’s most important milestones by delivering exceptional service. Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is seeking professional and committed Senior Client Services Officers to join our Births, Deaths and Marriages team. As a Senior Client Services Officer, you will play a vital role in registering and maintaining records of significant life events for South Australians. Every interaction is an prospect to provide empathetic, accurate and timely service, whether assisting with registrations, resolving complex enquiries, or guiding customers through sensitive situations.

What you’ll do:

- Provide high-quality customer support across phone, email and face-to-face.
- Act as an escalation point for complex enquiries and complaints.
- Assess applications and make informed recommendations in line with legislation.
- Support team performance through coaching, training and workflow management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and a collaborative team culture

What we’re looking for:

- Strong customer service skills with empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation accurately.
- Sound judgment and initiative in decision-making.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence in handling complaints and sensitive matters.
- Experience in a fast-paced, frontline service environment.

Successful candidates will be placed in a merit pool for 12 months and may be considered for term positions as they arise.

About the Business

The Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) provides a range of legal, regulatory and other services for the government and people of South Australia. Employing around 1700 staff, AGD promotes justice by protecting people’s rights, holding people to account according to the law, improving safety and contributing to an efficient and fair justice system.

Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is a division of the Attorney-General’s Department and is responsible for protecting consumers, supporting and regulating businesses and recording significant life events for South Australians. CBS is customer focussed and flexible in its activities, providing accessible information and services.

CBS’ strategic goals are to:

The Registration Branch provides an essential service to South Australian’s seeking to register or obtain information on the significant life events of births, deaths and marriages (BDM). The Registration Branch also manages South Australia’s register of Justices of the Peace.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
